Mumbai, Sep 28 (UNI) The Bombay High Court has stayed by-elections in two more wards of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) which were scheduled for October 7.

A division bench comprising justices S B Mhase and D G Karnik yesterday stayed by-elections to ward numbers 13 and 67 persuant to petitions filed by a voter Rajendra Sonkhale and contesting candidate Ashok Mungekar respectively.

Sonkhale and Mungekar have filed election petitions against winning candidates in these wards on various grounds.

Simantini Narkar had won from ward number 13 whereas Suresh Gangan had won from ward number 67. Both of them were declared disqualified after caste scrutiny committee had invalidated their caste certificates, along with some other elected corporators.

The High Court had stayed by-elections to five other wards earlier.
