Moga, Sept 28 (UNI) Congress party in Dharamkot Assembly Constituency has suffered heavy loss as eight Sarpanches and five Panches from the constituency resigned enblock from the primary membership of the Congress and announced to join BJP in a BJP district level rally at Dharamkot yesterday.
Those resigned from the Congress party includes Ram Saroop Kapoor Sarpanch Kot-Ise-Khan, Bachittar Singh Sarpanch Talwandi Begharian, Paramjit Singh Sarpanch Mundi Jamal, Baldev Singh Sarpanch Baghewala, Bodh Singh Sarpanch Bahadur Wala, Balu Ram Ex-sarpanch Baghewala, Daler Singh Sarpanch Chotian Kalan, Daljit Singh Bhuller Ex-sarpanch Kamal-ke. Two Panchayat members from Fatehgarh Panjitoor, two panches from Gohlewal and one other panch also resigned from the Congress and joined the BJP. Besides, a senior Lok Bhalai Party leader from Fatehgrah Panjtoor Gurmukh Singh has also joined BJP.
BJP state president Rajinder Bhandari welcomed all these congressmen joining BJP by presenting them Saropas.
In a joint statement at the party rally they said that they resigned as they were not given due respect by the Congress party.
