Dikshit awarded Lions Medal of Merit, 3rd CM to recieve honour

New Delhi, Sep 28 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit was today awarded the Medal of Merit by the Lions Clubs International, making her the third Chief Minister in the country to receive the honour.

The award was presented to Ms Dikshit by Lion Club International president Mahendra Amarasuriya of Sri Lanka at the organisation's Board of Directors meeting held here yesterday.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Dikshit appreciated the good work of Lions Clubs International.

''Lions Clubs have been doing the foremost contribution to the holistic development of the community through out the globe since decades. They have always forwarded a helping hand to the needy, poor and the backward sections of society at both the global as well as local levels,''she said.

Ms Dikshit is only the third Chief Minister in the country to recieve the award, which has earlier been recieved by Kerala and Andhra Pradesh Chief Ministers.
