Jaipur, Sep 28 (UNI) The BJP will launch countrywide agitation on October 2 for pressing up the demand of sacking of DMK Ministers from the UPA council of ministers and public apology from UPA Chief Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and DMK Chief Karunanidhi over the Ram Sethu issue.
Addressing the national convention of Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BYJM) here today BJP President Rajnath Singh said an affidavit filed by the UPA Government before the Supreme Court in Ramsethu case and subsequent anti-Ram utterances made by DMK Supremo Karunanidhi had hurt the religious sentiments of crores of Indians and the BJP had rightly demanded public apology by the concerned leaders and sacking of the DMK members of Manmohan Singh Ministry over the issue.
Now, in a bid to build pressure up on the UPA leadership for the demands, the party has decided to hold dharna on October 2, at all district headquarters in the country, Mr Singh announced.
Mr Singh regretted the government's stand taken in this regard and said this was ugly instance of the ruling alliance's anti Hindu appeasement policies.
He said the vote bank oriented politics of the Congress had created this situation and other non-Congress political parties were behaving as mute spectators to the Congress ''misdeed''.
Charging Ms Gandhi with bid to hurt religious sentiments of the Hindus, Mr Singh questioned whether Ms Gandhi could show courage to take similar steps against the religious sentiments of Muslim or Christian communities.
He said by disowning Lord Ram, Ms Gandhi had not only hurt Hindu sentiments but she had also disregarded the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi who used to recite Ramdhuni in his daily prayers and even his ultimate utterance on January 30, 1948, was also ''Hey Ram''.
