Amritsar, Sep 28 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today announced to institute a chair named after Shaheed Bhagat Singh at Maharishi Dayanand University (MDU) at Rohtak.
The Chief Minister, who was speaking at the national level function organised to mark birth centenary celebrations of the freedom fighter here, said Bhagat Singh was an institution in itself, the chair to be instituted in the university would provide opportunity for in-depth study of his life and deeds.
Mr Hooda said Bhagat Singh had dreamt the creation of such a society where there would be neither any discrimination nor hunger and everybody would get justice.
Describing the states of Punjab and Haryana as the two brothers, Mr Hooda said the residents of this area have played a significant role in the freedom struggle of the country.
He said the flame of the first war of freedom of 1857 was ignited at Ambala.
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal presented a Saropa and a sword to Mr Hooda as a mark of respect.
