Kochi, Sep 28 (UNI) As many as 43 NCC officers from various educational institutions across India were today commissioned as Associate NCC (Navy) Officers (ANOs) in the ranks of Sub-Lieutenant and Third Officer on completion of their nine-week course here.
Commodore S S Mathur, Chief Staff Officer (Personnel and Administration), Southern Naval Command reviewed the parade and presented certificates and stripes to the officers.
These NCC officers would assume charge as the senior division/junior division ANOs in their respective institutions.
During the pre-commission course, the ANOs were given intensive training in Naval subjects, outdoor activities and were also attached to various professional schools in the Naval Base to gain first-hand knowledge. They had the opportunity to sail out aboard naval ships.
Sub-Lieutenant Rajeev Singh from Jaipur was declared the 'best cadet', while V S Kanwar of Rajasthan received the second prize. The function was attended by senior Naval Army officers and NCC staff.
Naval NCC Tuticorin Commanding officer Commander E Balaguru and NCC Ernakulam Commanding Officer Commander K P Mathew conducted the pre-commission course.
The Seamanship School under Capatain P Sasidharan provided the logistics support, an official release said.
