Vadodara, Sep 28 (UNI) Like the opening one-dayer in Ahmedabad, the second limited over match between India 'A' and visiting South Africa 'A' scheduled to be played at the Reliance Cricket Stadium here today was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Although, the city received no rains during the last 24 hours, the Vadodara one-dayer fell prey to heavy downpour recorded on Wednesday night which left the outfield soggy till this afternoon.

Match referee Tushar Arothe along with other members of his team conducted as many as five inspections of the ground with the hope of getting the ground ready by noon due to today's bright sunshine.

But after the fifth inspection at 13:15 hrs, Arothe declared the match as abandoned due to wet outfield particularly in the bowling run up at the media tower end.

As the possibility of the cricket match slowly faded out, members of both the teams had some practice with football to entertain a crowd of about 3000 gathered at the stadium. Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) had made the entry free for public.

Besides the cricket fans, cricketers of both the teams were disappointed following the abandonment of the first two of the three-match one-day series due to rain as a number of players like Suresh Raina, Mohammad Kaif and Parthiv Patel from India and South Afrifa A skipper Boeta Dippeanaar and Charl Langeveldt were eagerly looking for a good performance in the current series to make a come back into their respective national squads.

The third and final one-dayer is scheduled to be played at Rajkot on Sunday.
