Bangalore, Sep 27 (UNI) Team India batsman Robin Uthappa today countered Australian Captain Ricky Ponting's remark that the 'Men in blue' will be under pressure playing against Australia in the seven-match ODI series beginning on Saturday as they had emerged World Champions in the Twenty20 World Cup.
Speaking after the launch of Neo Sports, a video-on-demand and Live streaming service here, Robin said Indian team was in good form and was confident to take on the World Champions.
''We are looking forward to carry on our winning momentum, when we meet Australia in the first match on Saturday and there will not be any pressure on us. We are just looking forward to take on Australia,'' Uthappa said.
About his not so impressive performance with the bat in the just concluded T20 world cup, in which he had excelled only in the match against South Africa, Uthappa refused to agree that he was a failure. ''I enjoyed every moment of the T20 world cup, while contributing in whatever way I could for the success of Team India,'' he said.
Speedster Zaheer Khan, who was also present said he would be rejoining the Indian team after a brief 'break' and was looking forward to be in action against Australia. ''The short break did me good and helped me to regain confidence,'' he said.
About Saturday's match, Zaheer said it was very important to win the opening match and begin well on a tough series.
Regarding the flat Indian pitches, which were not pacer-friendly, Zaheer retorted that in any pitch, bowlers got to bowl well. ''At the end of the day it is the team effort that prevails and both the bowlers and batsmen have to put their best in the field'' he said.
Asked how the Indian team would counter strong Australians, who were champions in both one-day and test formats, Zaheer said, ''we must focus on our strengths. We are doing well and just need to continue to do the same'' he said.
