Tripura observes World Tourism Day

Agartala, Sep 27 (UNI) The Tripura government today urged women to participate in a larger scale in the tourism and hospitality sectors to boost the economy of the state and explore employment opportunities.

Speaking on the occasion of the World Tourism Day here, Director of Tripura Tourism Subhas Das said considering the importance of women's participation in the tourism sector, the theme of the day this year was chosen as 'Tourism Opens Doors for Women'.

As part of the celebrations, the state government launched a package tour 'Visit Agartala' for the tourists while Chairman of the Tripura State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) Prof Mihir Deb flagged off the median tourist cabs at Shwet Mahal here.

Altogether 14 important historical spots, including the Indo-Bangladesh border checkpost had already been brought under the package at the cost of Rs 150 per head.
