Task force to monitor Women desk in Police station

Bhubaneswar, Sep 27 (UNI) A Task force has been constituted in Orissa to monitor and evaluate the functioning of the Women and Child desk, set up in the Police stations to deal with the women and child atrocities cases.

The task force to be headed by state Home Secretary T K Mishra held its first meeting to review the performances of 460 women desk, established so far in police station across the state.

State Home Secretary T K Mishra later told newsmen that seven more women desk would be set up in police stations and the women officer posted at the police station to look after the women desk would be imparted training as to how to deal with women atrocities cases.

He said the women officers would be asked to give more emphasis on family conciliation procedure to sort out the atrocities on women instead of referring the matter to the court.

Mr Mishra said the women officers manning the women desk at the police station would be trained in human rights and child rights and the Task Force would monitor the number of cases taken up by these officers in various police stations.
