Chandigarh, Sep 27 (UNI) Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Union Territory Administrator S F Rodrigues today called upon women to act as catalysts of change and to take a leadership role in different endeavours.

Inaugurating a photo exhibition by 42 women photographers with 85 exhibits at the Government Museum and Art Gallery here, he said women must come forward with innovative ideas and contribute to finding solutions to problems facing the Indian society.

General (retd.) Rodrigues said women could play a significant role in programmes like prevention of child abuse and bringing down the maternal mortality rate, which were already launched by the administration.

He said the administration had undertaken a programme of social transformation in Bapu Dham Colony and this model will be replicated in other 17 rehabilitation colonies in the city.

''We need to take this as a challenge and work with commitment and to improve the life of our people,'' he added.
