Punjab defeat Delhi by 55 runs in U/19 Venu Mankad trophy

Srinagar, Sep 27 (UNI) Punjab today defeated Delhi by 55 runs in the under-19 Venu Mankad cricket trophy played at Sher-e-Kashmir cricket stadium here.

Delhi won the toss and invited Punjab to bat first.

The decision proved costly as Punjab thrashed Delhi bowlers all over the park. Delhi bowlers were unable to take early wickets. The first wicket of the Punjab fell on 65 runs.

Punjab scored 249 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 50 overs.

The top scorer of the winning team was Amartoze Singh, who scored 62 of just 47 balls, while Kumar Raina (60 of 91 balls) and Tarumer Kholi (50 of 73 balls).

For Delhi, Darshan Kajaria, Virat Kohli and Varun Sood took two wickets each while Yogesh took one.

Chasing a target of 250 runs, Delhi were never in contention to win the match as Punjab bowlers took wickets on regular intervals.

Delhi were all out for 195 in 45 overs, with Punjab winning the match by 55 runs.

For Delhi, Pradeep and Tarun Chowdhary scored 28 runs each.

Himanshu and Lakshay took three wickets each for Punjab.
