Bangkok, Sep 27 (UNI) Myanmar nationals living in Thailand along with Thai democracy campaigners staged a protest outside the Myanmar embassy here today demanding that the military regime use peaceful means to end the current unrest in that country.

Around 100 demonstrators, carrying red banners condemning the military action against Buddhist monks in Yangon, burned Myanmar's top military ruler General Than Shwe in effigy.

They left after placing a note at the embassy gate which said, they would submit a petition tomorrow to the UN Commission on Human Rights at the United Nations office in Bangkok.

Demanding release of all political prisoners in Myanmar, including Nobel Peace Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi, the protestors called on the international community to stop supporting the country's military rulers.
