Chandigarh, Sep 27 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court today issued notices to the Haryana government for October 11 on a PIL which has sought to know the action taken so far on continued incidence of female foeticide and sex-determination tests in different parts of the state.

Also, the petitioner Gaurav Goel has pleaded for a comprehensive probe into more than 250 illegal abortions and female foetuses, leading to recovery of a large quantity of remains of the foetuses from a 20-feet well (underground septic tank) at Buala Nursing Home, Pataudi district Gurgaon as per media reports.

The PIL, which was heard by the Division bench comprising Chief Justice Vijender Jain and Justice Mahesh Grover, has also sought to know the action taken so far against the officers for the negligence which has led to the uninterrupted abortions of female foetuses for a long time now.

It has also been prayed for directions to submit regular district-wise report in this respect and also on the action taken to prevent incidents of female foeticide.

The PIL also expressed concern at the decline in sex-ratio in Haryana which stood at 879 women for 1000 men in 1991 to 820 in 2001.
