Meghalaya celebrates World Tourism Day
Shillong, Sept 27 (UNI) The Meghalaya government today urged women to participate in a larger scale in the tourism and hospitality sectors to boost the economy of the state.
Speaking on the occasion of the World Tourism Day here, state Tourism Minister Charles Pyngrope said the government had taken all steps to further develop tourism spots in the state.
Mr Pyngrope said considering the importance of women's participation in the tourism sector, the theme of the day this year was chosen as 'Tourism Opens Doors for Women'.
He also said that economic prosperity could flourish in the state only through development.
