Patna, Sep 27 (UNI) Railway Minister Lalu Prasad has announced a cash award of Rs 10 lakh to the Eastern Central Railway (ECR) for the challenging work it had taken up during the current financial year.
The conversion of meter gauge into broad gauge was a big challenge before the ECR which completed the uphill task within the stipulated time frame.
ECR CPRO A K Chandra said here today that the opening of 68 km long Jaynagar-Darbhanga Broad Gauge line was a big challenge before the ECR which was completed successfully with the sincere efforts of the employees of the ECR.
He said impressed with the committment of the employees, Mr Prasad announced the award which would be conferred shortly to the ECR.
He said the performance of ECR was commendable in the passenger and goods loading sections. He said for smooth movement of goods trains, the ECR has decided to electrify the coal loading line in Dhanbad.
Meanwhile, a high level meeting was held at the ECR headquarters yesterday to discuss the timely movement of trains, passenger amenities, safety measures and employees welfare. Apart from all five DRMs, the head of different departments and other senior officers attended the meeting.
