India to play in World Deaf Championship for first time

Chandigarh, Sept 27 (UNI) India will participate for the first time in the World Deaf Badminton Championship to be held in Germany from September 28 to October 7.

Rohit Bhaker and Sandeep Singh Dhillon, both Arjun Awardees, will represent India in the 2nd World Deaf Badminton Championship along with their coach Roopehandre Sathe, an official release said today.

Rohit is the current India and Asia Badminton Deaf Champion while Sandeep Dhillon has won Asia Badminton Championship twice.

Sathe, a national coach from Patiala, is associated with the All India Sports Council for the Deaf for the last 20 years and can communicate with the hearing impaired well in sign language.
