Srinagar, Sep 27 (UNI) All the habitations would be provided electricity within next three years in the Jammu and Kashmir where 28 hydel power projects have been offered to private sector and 51 more projects are in the pipeline.
Chairing annual general meeting of Jammu and Kashmir state Power Development Corporation (PDC), Minister for Power Nawang Rigzin Jora said that all the habitations of the state would be provided electricity in next three years.
To improve the power generation and distribution system in the state, the central government has provided sufficient funds under RGGVY, APDRP and Prime Minister's Re-construction Progarmme, he added.
Mr Jora said 51 power projects with generation capacity of 330 MWs would be given to private sector for construction while 28 projects have already been offered to private sector.
He said a large number of mini hydro-electric projects are also under construction in the state to improve electric supply in rural areas.
The meeting was informed that PDC is making all out efforts for maximum harnessing of hydro-potential available in the state to achieve self-sufficiency under power sector.
It also reviewed pace of development on Uri-II, Dul-Hasti and ongoing hydro-electric power projects of the state.
