Thane, Sep 27 (UNI) The dilapidated temple of 'Lord Parshuram' situated at Chiplun in Ratnagiri district of Konkan region of the state, has drawn the attention of a handful of persons, who have now wowed to work towards its development.
Despite the fact that Lord Parshuram is considered as the presiding deity of the Konkan region, the temple has been neglected all along and allowed to ruin as it did not attract the attention of people like other temples in the country. Very few are aware of the presence of the temple itself.
Keeping in view the bad condition of the temple, a religious and social organisation 'Mahasangram' has been formed on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi to improve the condition of the ruined temple.
Talking to newsmen here today, Mahasangram President Acharya P Subash Sharma said that the organisation will undertake various measures for the development of the temple and its surroundings.
Mr Sharma said that the entire country worships Lord Parshuram but no one knows about the condition of the temple. Hence, we have come together and formed the 'Mahasangram' which will improve the condition of the temple.
Mahasangram Founder and prominent social worker Om Prakash Sharma said that to begin with a 'Parashuram Yatra' will be taken out from Mumbai on November 14, that will return on the next day, in which thousands of devotees are likely to participate in it. The Yatra will be led by Jagadguru Shankaracharya of Sumeru Pithadeeshwar Swami Sri Narandranand Saraswati accompanied by the Jagadguru.
The Yatra will be flagged off immediately after Diwali and will continue as long as the citizens need it, Mr Sharma informed.
He said that various other tasks like publications and creating a website will also be undertaken by Mahasangram, which is a non-political organization.
