Shivpuri, MP, Sep 27 (UNI) The district town of Shivpuri today observed bandh to protest registering of a police case against Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia following a dispute between Congress workers and supporters of Rashtriya Samanata Dal MLA Harivallabh Shukla.

The bandh, called by Congress, was by and large peaceful, police said.

Congress workers, raising slogans against Mr Shukla, moved around the town appealing traders to down shutters.

Meanwhile, a group led by local Congress MLA Virendra Raghuvanshi, observed dharna at the Kotwali police station demanding withdrawal of case against Mr Scindia.

Police registered a case under section 506 of IPC against Mr Scindia for making provocative speech in the wake of the dispute over inaugurating a road construction work in Pohri area of the district yesterday. Mr Shukla laid the foundation stone even before the arrival of Mr Scindia, who was late by more than two hours.
