Jaipur, Sep 27 (UNI) Depression in the Bay of Bengal triggered heavy rains in Banswara district of south Rajasthan.
Almost all parts of the Banswara district experienced heavy rains with low lying areas inundated with rain water. The Sajjangarh thahsil rained heavily recording 260 mm of rain. Neighbouring district of Dungarpur, Chittorgarh and Jhalawar district also reported heavy to moderate rain in the last 24 hours.
According to the Met department, depression formed in the Bay of Bengal trigerred the heavy rains in south Rajasthan. Banswara districts Kushalgarh recorded 211mm, Bagidora and Shoregarh 145mm, Dhanpur 150mm, Kesarpura 147mm, Sallopat 142mm, and Banswara city recorded 80 mm of rain.
The 14 gates of the 281meter capacity Mahi dam was opened to let go 73456 qusecs of water due to the heavy flow of water in the dam following the heavy rain.
Dungarpur district's Chikli recorded 48mm, Arnod in Chittorgarh 47mm, Jhalawar district's Bakani 65mm, Pidawa 76mm, Chapidam 60mm of rain.
Rains were forcast in south east parts of the state in the next 24 hours.
