Kochi, Sep 26 (UNI) Appliances major Whirlpool of India recorded a sales turnover of Rs 61 crore in Kerala during the Onam festival last month, Regional Marketing Manager (South) Kiran Antony said today.
Talking to newspersons here to announce the winners of the Whirlpool 'Ellathilum Magic' offer, Mr Antony said the company had set a sales target of Rs 60 crore during Onam.
Stating that the customer response exceeded the company's target, he said Whirpool had launched its 'Mastermind' refrigerators, 'Magicool' air conditioners and 'Sensation-Neo' washing machines during the festive season.
Talking about the 'Ellathilum Magic' offer, he said it was one of the biggest cross category retail alliances in India and was tried for the first time on such a large scale in the country.
Whirlpool had tied up with more than 2,000 retail outlets including grocery shops, chemists, jewelery shops, household utility stores, apparel, electronics, furniture, automobile and home improvement showrooms.
More than 50,000 customers were given 'magic coupons' while making purchases at these outlets and these were dropped in the Whirlpool 'drop box' for a lucky draw, which was held today.
The city Asst Commissioner of Police P M Varghese, drew the names of the lucky winner of the 'mega prize' and ten other prizes.
The 'mega prize' consisting of Whirlpool products worth about Rs 75,000, was bagged by Ms Jupitha of Kozhikode. She has won a refrigerator, washing machine, dryer and microwave oven.
Ten other prizes, including refrigerators, washing machines and microwave ovens, were also announced for other winners.
