WAPCOS pays 120 per cent dividend to Union Government

New Delhi, Sep 26 (UNI) Union Minister for Water Resources Prof Saifuddin Soz was today presented a dividend cheque of Rs 2.40 crore for the year 2006-07 by chairman and managing director of Water and Power Consultancy Services (India) Ltd (WAPCOS) D Dutta here today.

The declared dividend of 120 per cent of its paid up capital for the year 2006-07, is the highest ever since its inception in 1969.

WAPCOS has performed exceedingly well consistently during the last four years and has been placed in the 'Excellent' category by the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE), Government of India for the fourth time in succession.

WAPCOS is a 'Mini Ratna', Government of India Enterprise under the aegis of Union Ministry of Water Resources. It provides consultancy services in the critical areas of water resources, power and infrastructure development. It has ongoing projects in Afghanistan, Cambodia, Zimbabwe, Bhutan, Ethiopia, Laos, Lesotho, Zambia, Uganda, Swaziland, Eritrea, Rwanda, Sudan and almost all states in India.

Prof Soz said the government was very satisfied with the progress achieved by WAPSCOS.
