Mumbai, Sep 26 (UNI) Valuables worth over Rs 44.5 lakh were looted in two separate incidents of robbery in the metropolis during the last 24 hours.
In the first incident, the absconding accused, Shriram Krishna Koli alias Shiva (35), was working with a builder Manish Dholakia for the last eight-ten years as an electrician, the police said here today.
According to Ms Sonal Manish Dholakia (30), last night when she along with her family members had gone to attend the 'Ganapati Visarjan' at Himgiri near Jaslok hospital in south Mumbai, Shriram took a chance and opened the cupboard with a duplicate key and stole a diamond Rolex wrist watch worth Rs 35,00,000, two diamond rings worth Rs 3,00,000 and gold ornaments worth Rs 1,40,000. He then fled with the valuables amounting to Rs 39,40,000.
In the second incident at Nirmal Apartment in Bandra, a shop of wrist watches was robbed by unidentified persons. The robbers fled with the watches and other valuables worth Rs 4.81 lakh.
Police has registered a case of robbery and further investigations are in progress.
