Universal Expositions Group enters southern market

Bangalore, Sep 26(UNI) In a determined bid to capture the southern market, Universal Expositions Group is contemplating to conduct trade fairs in furniture industry in Chennai and Bangalore from next year.

President of the Company L A Khan told reporters here today that the expositions would have symposiums where leading designers from Italy would exchange ideas with the Indian designers.

He said that the company was already conducting International Furniture Trade fairs for the last seven years in Mumbai and New Delhi and now it plans to enter the southern region.

The Index International Furniture Fair, which is to be held from October 18 in Mumbai, is the single important event for the furniture industry in the country, he said.

The construction industry is experiencing a maximum growth and in turn has created an explosive demand for furniture and allied products, he said.

The size of Indian furniture industry is estimated to be at Rs 350 million and growing at the rate of 20 per cent, he said.
