Traders protest VAT in UP capital
Lucknow, Sep 26 (UNI) Activists of Udyog Vyapar Pratinidhi Mandal today staged an agitation in the state capital against the imposition of Value Added Tax (VAT) in Uttar Pradesh.
A mob of traders led by Mandal president Shyam Bihari Mishra took to streets shouted anti-UP government slogans after after imposition of VAT was announced by the BSP government.
The traders claimed imposition of VAT would lead to ''inspector raj'' in UP.
''Besides, prices of essential items would hike. VAT would spread corruption and lead to our harassment,'' they alleged.
