Sahara announces awards worth Rs 4 crore for Team India

Lucknow, Sept 26 (UNI) Sahara India Pariwar, the main sponsor of the Indian Cricket Team, has announced an award of over Rs 4 crore for the players, gifting them a home each in their mega infrastructure project ' Sahara City Homes'.

Congratulating the victorious boys of the first T20 World Cup in their own inimitable style of true patriotism, Subrata Roy, Managing Worker&Chairman, Sahara India Pariwar said, 'We have always upheld the belief that in sports lies the spirit of the nation and we have continued to support Indian cricket for over 14 years now, both the men and women team along with the Indian hockey team'.

''We are delighted with the spirit and commitment that our boys have shown on the shores of South Africa by winning the first T20 World Cup ever played. They have made not only us, but an entire nation of over 1 billion proud. We applaud them and all that they stand for and wish to felicitate this truly stupendous effort'', Mr Roy said.

The team members who are being honored are Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Vice Captain Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir, Dinesh Karthik, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, Virender Sehwag, Joginder Sharma, Harbhajan Singh, Rohit Sharma, RP Singh, Ajit Agarkar, Sreesanth and Robin Uthappa.

The team members are free to choose the location of their homes from across 217 cities in India. The total worth of each house is around Rs 25 lakh.

Yesterday, Uttar Pradesh government had announced to give the inaugural ' Kanshiram International Sports Award' to R P Singh for his contribution in the country's winning the first ever T20 World Cup.

Singh will receive Rs ten lakh in cash and a citation from the UP government as mark of recognition for his brilliant performance during 22-day inaugural T20 World Cup, especially in the final.

The left-arm seamer, hailing from Rae Bareli, had also been congraluted by Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who is the Lok Sabha member from the area.

Meanwhile, the cricket fans of UP and particularly of Rae Bareli have to wait for the arrival of the hero in the state.

According to the family members of Rudra Pratap Singh, the cricketer would go to Banglore directly from Mumbai for the upcoming seven one-day series against Australia starting from September 29.
