Shimla, Sep 26 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh High Court today constituted a high power committee to examine violation of the directions of the state government by the company executing Allian Duhangan hydro electric project in Kullu district of the state.
The court also directed Kullu Deputy Commissioner Kullu to communicate the decision to the management of project by October four and subsequently file affidavit of compliance in the court.
Kullu Deputy Commissioner, HPPWD Chief Engineer, Chief Conservator of Forest (Kullu), Superintendent Engineer or Chief Engineer to be nominated by Chairman of HPSEB, Senior Environment officer and Senior Environment Planner would be the members of the committee, it said.
The court directed the five-member committee to visit the project site on September 28 and 29 and inspect as to whether the company has adhered to various provisions and norms that were made obligatory by the state government at the time of allocation of the project or whether it was violating them.
Earlier, the court had directed the company to stop all construction work at the project site on September 11 following a PIL by the residents of the area, who alleged widespread loss to environment by the company.
They had said the company executing the project had not been given the mandatory No Objection Certificate by the residents of Jagat Sukh Village where the project was coming up.
