Myanmar troops guard activist Yangon monasteries
YANGON, Sep 26 (Reuters) Truckloads of troops and riot police arrived outside at least six big Yangon monasteries today in an apparent attempt to stop monks leading new protest marches against Myanmar's junta, witnesses said.
Hundreds more security personnel were waiting in a city centre park near the Sule Pagoda, the focus of the biggest protests against military rule in 20 years, apparently prepared to prevent any repetition, they said.
