Tiruchirapalli, Sep 26 (UNI) Makkal Thamilzagam (MT) activists would stage a black flag demonstration against the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karuanidhi during his visit to Pudukkottai on September 28, party funder president Puratchi Kavidasan said here today.
Talking to newspersons here today, Party's founder President Mr Puratchi Kavidasan said the proposed agitation was to draw Mr Karunanidhi's attention to their long pending demands.
He said their demands included, withdrawal of the State Government''s GO calling for the entire scheuled castes, comprising 77 branches as Adidravidas. Since the Adi Dravida community was one of the 77 branches of the SCs, it was unfair on the part of the Government to pass such a controversial GO, he alleged.
The MT leader said the Government should modify its GO and render justice to the Devendra Kula Velalars, which was predominant among the SC population. The Government should pass a new GO to address Pallar, Kaladi, Moopan, Balakan, Vaikarar,Devendra Kulthan, Kudumbar, Pannadi as Devendrakulavelalars, he added.
Mr Kavidasan demanded adequate respresentation for the Devendrakula Velalar community in the State Cabinet, nationalisation of the literary works of late Devaasirvatham, a Devendrakulavelalar community leader and a bureaucrat, and to arrest the gang for the murder of Jasindha Pandiyan, wife of Pasupathi Pandiyan and a leader of Devendrakulavelalar community, a few years ago.
He said the party was trying to meet Mr Karunanidhi for the last one and half years to solve their problems, but their efforts went in vain. It was grossly unfair on the part of the Chief Minister to avoid meeting the leader of MT, who is fighting for the cause of a suppressed community, he alleged.
He said if the party volunteers were arrested as a preventive measure, they would continue their stir till their demands were met.
