Lakhowal demands hike of Rs 241 in paddy MSP
Jalandhar, Sep 26 (UNI) Punjab Mandi Board chairman and Bharatiya Kisan Union (Lakhowal) president Ajmer Singh Lakhowal has demanded an increase of Rs 241 in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of paddy.
Talking to mediapersons at the new grain market here today Mr Lakhowal said a five-member delegation of different farmers' organisations from different states had met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on September 12 and demanded to increase the MSP of paddy from Rs 675 to 916 per quintal.
He said farmers' organisation would resort to agitation if the MSP was not increased.
