Coimbatore, Sep 26 (UNI) Two Hindu Munnani activists were allegedly attacked by the ruling DMK workers while staging a protest along with other party members near Sulur Bus Stand, about 20 km from here, this evening.

Police said the activists were protesting against Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's controversial statements on Lord Ram when suddenly over 40 people, allegedly DMK workers, attacked them with lathis and iron rods.

In the melee, two Hindu Munnani activists -- Sivasamy (44) and Murugaraj (24) -- were seriously injured and admitted to the Coimbatore Medical College (CMC) Hospital.

However, the situation was now under control, police added.
