Former Porbandar MP held in mineral theft of Rs 305 cr

Porbandar, Sep 26 (UNI) Former Member of Parliament Bharat Odedara was tonight arrested in connection with mineral theft case which was unearthed in November 2006 by the police.

Police Sub Inspector H D Waghela arrested Bharat Odedra from the city at around 1930 hrs.

The officials of Mines and Mineral Department and the local administration had conducted a joint survey of seven villages in the district and had detected an illegal mining activity of over 97 lakh metric tonnes of lime stones amounting to whopping Rs 305 crore.

The survey had been conducted in Boricha, Barkhala, Adityana, Aniyari, Ranavav, Kutchadi and Bhod villages in the first week of November 2006 and had found the illegal mining activity of over 97 lakh metric tonnes of minerals.

Earlier, in this connection, Bhima Dula and his son Laxman Dula have been arrested, police said.

BJP MLA from Porbandar Babubhai Bokharia's name was also involved in this case, however, his arrest was not made so far.
