Ahmedabad, Sep 26 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal today exhorted Congress workers in the state to revive the ''spirit of unity'' and defeat BJP in the forthcoming Assembly Elections.
Mr Jaiswal, who is in the city to participate in a felicitation function of Astronaut Sunita Williams, organised by Gujarat Pradesh Agrawal Sammelan, told reporters if the partymen united to fight the election, no force in the world could stop the Congress from forming the next government.
He, however, made it clear that Congress is not a divided house in the state compared to other political parties.
To specific query about the law and order situation in Gujarat, he refused to comment on the subject but hastened to add that on the basis of merely the FIR figures, one cannot judge the state's law and order situation.
Lashing out at people, who have been raising the issue of ''Ram Sethu'', the minister said atleast the NDA leaders should refrain from the hue and cry on the issue as during its regime a committee had been set up to look into the matter.
To a pointed question on the party's failure to project the Chief Minsterial candidate in the election, Mr Jaiswal said, ''In the Congress culture, we elect the leader among the elected legislators only, so there is no question about declaring the Chief Ministerial candidate''.
