CM announces cash awards to hockey players

Bangalore, Sep 26 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumarswamy today announced cash awards of Rs two lakh each to four hockey players of the State, for their excellent performance in the recent Asia Cup.

The State Government announced cash award of Rs two lakh to the coach also following a threat by the players to launch a hunger strike in front of the Chief Minister's residence here for the step- motherly treatment towards them.

The Government had annouced a cash award of Rs five lakh for cricketers from the State for winning the Twenty20 World Cup.

The hockey players Vikram Kanth, V R Raghunath, S V Sunil, Igance Tirkey and coach Ramesh Parameshwaran would receive the cash awards.
