Chennai-based institute, Dehradun's IIP bag CSIR awards
New Delhi, Sep 26 (UNI) Central Leather Research Institute, Chennai, Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dehradun, and auto major Mahindra and Mahindra bagged the CSIR awards today.
Mahindra and Mahindra won the CSIR Diamond Jubilee Technology Award for development and commercialisation of Scorpio. The award carries a prize of Rs 10 lakh, a shield and a citation.
'Team CLRI' of the Chennai-based institute got the CSIR Technology Award for Physical Sciences, while 'Team IIP' of the Dehradun-based institute received the CSIR Technology Award for Innovation.
Each award carries a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh, a plaque and a citation.
The Awards were given by Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal on the 65th foundation day of CSIR.
'Team CLRI' was given the award for developing chemo autotrophic activated carbon oxidation (CAACO) technology for the treatment of waste water.
'Team IIP' won the prize for developing new catalysts for sweetening of lighter and heavier petroleum fractions. IIP has filed twenty one patents for this innovation.
Mr Sibal also gave away CSIR Young Scientist Award 2007.
