Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 25 (UNI) Reiterating its demand for a CBI or judicial inquiry into the ISRO land deals, the Congress in Kerala today alleged that the Vigilance Inquiry by the Left Democratic Front(LDF) Government was to protect Forest Minister Binoy Viswam and the inquiry would not help to bring out the truth.

Talking to newspersons here, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Ramesh Chennithala said, ''there will not be any sanctity in the Vigilance inquiry, which is under the Home Minister.

The announcement of a Vigilance Inquiry is only to protect the Forest Minister''.

''Chief Minister V S Achutanandan in the Assembly had stated that the state government had certain limitations in ordering an inquiry as the ISRO was involved in the deal. But now the government has come up with an inquiry,'' he said and added this showed that the government from the very beginning was trying to hide something.

Stating that the CPI, the CPM and the LDF had different opinions regarding an inquiry, Mr Chennithala said the CPI had earlier called for a comprehensive inquiry into the deal and later shifted from it saying that there was no need for an inquiry if some one demanded it.

While Mr Viswam had written a letter to the Chief Minister demanding a CBI inquiry, the LDF was against an inquiry. All these showed that the Left Front had different views on it and also that they were trying to hide something, he alleged.

''It is still doubtfull why the Left are fearing a CBI or a judicial inquiry,'' he said.

The Congress would continue its protest against the LDF government till a judicial or a CBI inquiry was ordered into the land deals, he said.

Regarding the CPI(M) capturing the director board of the Kerala State Cooperative Hospital Complex and Centre for Advanced Medical Services (KSCHC and CAMS), which controls the Pariyaram Medical College, in the elections, Mr Chennithala asked the government to cancel the elections and go for a new one.

''The voters were not allowed to cast their votes and fresh elections should be held,'' he said.

Congratulating the Indian team for winning the 20-20 world cup, he said the KPCC would present a gold coin to S Sreesanth.
