Three ULFA militants killed in encounters
Guwahati, Sept 25 (UNI) Two ULFA militants, including the 'political secretary' of its main strike force '28th battalion', were killed in an encounter at Tingkhong Kasalu area of Dibrugarh district of Assam today.
Police said the slain militants and their eight other associates were taking shelter in the house of one Lila Gogoi.
The owner's family had left the house before the security forces arrived and there was no civilian casualty.
Of the two slain militants, Nabin Dutta was the 'political secretary' of 'C company' of '28th battalion' of the ULFA.
The other militant was identified as Ram Gogoi, who was a close associate of the battalion's 'commander' Prabal Neog, arrested from Tezpur on September 17.
The eight other militants,however, managed to flee. One US-made revolver, a mobile handset and some cash were recovered from the slain militants.
Meanwhile, another ULFA militant was killed in Manabum reserve forest of neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh.
