Three of a family die in suspected suicide

Kochi, Sep 25 (UNI) In a tragic incident, a boy suffering from cancer and his parents died after consuming insecticide in a suspected suicide here early this morning.

Police said Geselin Das (15) and his parents Dasan (52) and Kamalam (46) were found dead around 0100 hrs. in Room No. 429 of Lakeshore Hospital, where the child was under treatment for a brain tumour since last month.

A case of suicide had been registered and the bodies taken to the Ernakulam General Hospital for post-mortem.

Officials at Lakeshore Hospital said Geselin had been admitted to the hospital on August 28 with a brain tumour. He was progressing well after undergoing neurosurgery but later developed a kidney problem. On further tests, he was found to be suffering from Lukaemia as well.

''We got a confirmed diagnosis of blood cancer on September 18.

His father, working as a bus driver in Thrissur, was very upset and depressed after hearing this,'' the officials said.
