Rajkot, Sep 25 (UNI) A joyous Rajkot celebrated Indian cricket team's victory in the Twenty-20 World Cup final last night by dancing on streets and bursting fire-crackers.
When India won the nerve-wrecking final against arch-rival Pakistan by five runs in the last over, people came out in the streets, bursted fire-crackers and danced to drums.
When the match began at Johannesburg, a curfew like situation prevailed in the city as most of the people were anxiously watching the grand finale on TV sets and waiting for the outcome of the match. The roadside shops were brimming with people to see the grand finale on TV.
Multiplex and cinema houses were almost empty. Even students remained absent from their coaching classes.
Ecstatic groups danced through the night in revelry at Kisanpara Chowk, Kalawad Road, Yagnik Road, Malavia Chowk, Karanpara, Sanganva Chowk and Dharmendra Road after India's triumph.
Politicians were also not far behind in joining the people, at Congress office fire crackers were bursted and many could be seen dancing with joy.
Nearly 100 visualy impaired girl students enjoyed themselves by hearing the commentary on Radio and TV which were specially set up for them at the Andhjan Mahila Mandal.
