Rawalpindi Express lauds team's 'show' in South Africa

By Staff

ahore, Sep 25 (UNI) Temperamental Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, though dissapointed with the team's defeat in the finals, has showered praise on the side's overall performance in the Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa.

Expressing his disgust after Pakistan's loss to arch rivals India in yesterday's nail-bitting final, Shoaib said 1992 World Champions by virtue of their team effort played commendable cricket in the inaugural tournament.

''Playing the final is also a big achievement and credit goes to all the boys, who made it possible to play this great final after a long time, he told 'The Dawn'.

''I believe this performance will help the Pakistan team to gain confidence and produce better results during the home series against South Africa,'' he added.

However, the Rawalpindi Express in all probability would be missing the upcoming home series against the Proteas as he faces an inquiry into the bat-hitting incident over fellow pacer Mohammad Asif during a practice session earlier this month in South Africa before the start of the Twenty20 Championship.
