Punjab defeat Haryana by 5 runs in U-19 Venu Mankad trophy

Srinagar, Sep 25 (UNI) Punjab today defeated Haryana by five runs in the under-19 Venu Mankad cricket tournament played at Sher-e-Kashmir cricket stadium here.

Haryana won the toss and decided to field first.

Punjab scored 203 runs for the loss of all wickets in 47.4 overs.

The top scorer of winning team were Barat Malhotra, who scored 46 runs of 80 balls and Amarpreet Singh (31 of 24 balls.) For Haryana Nitish Saini took three wickets 8 conceding just runs Yujvinder Singh took two for 28 runs, while Mohit, Ashish and Jayant took one wicket each.

Haryana who started brilliantly with their opening stand putting 42 runs in eight overs, were restricted to were 198 for nine in the 50 allotted overs.

Nukul Dager scored 73 runs for Haryana, while Rushel Basket scored and Nitin Saini made 31 and 27 respectively.

For Punjab Rajvinder Himanshu and Lakshya took two wickets each, while Amerpreet and Sidharth took one wicket each.

The match was observed by Sanjeev Sharma chairman junior selection committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
