Hyderabad, Sep 25 (UNI) The city police have made elaborate security arrangements for the Ganesh idol immersion by deploying 27,000 policemen en route, after a letter threatening blasts during the ceremony was received.
Police said as part of security 1,200 closed-circuit cameras were installed at various places and giant screens were erected at the police control room to monitor. Cranes were put up along the Hussain Sagar and Necklace roads to facilitate the immersion.
Those coming to witness the immersion on the Tank Bund and Necklace roads were instructed to park their vehicles two km away from the immersion area.
The main attraction of the event would be the 'Khairatabad Ganesh idol,' which would be immersed tomorrow in a separate procession.
The security arrangements were tightened in the wake of an anonymous letter to Director General of Police M A Basith, which said that blasts would take place at six places during the immersion, police added.
