Haryana Sports Minister congratulates Joginder Sharma

Chandigarh, Sep 25 (UNI) Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Kiran Choudhry today congratulated Joginder Sharma, who hails from Haryana, and Indian Cricket Team for winning the Twenty-20 World Cup final played at Johannesburg last evening.

The Sports Minister announced here that Joginder Sharma would be honoured in a befitting manner at a public function on his return to Haryana.

Ms Choudhry also thanked Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for rewarding a cash reward of Rs 21 lakh to Joginder Sharma who took two wickets in a Twenty-20 semifinal cricket match played between Australia and India on September 22 and for taking two wickets in the final match played against Pakistan last evening.

She said that Joginder exhibited best skills during these matches and contributed in making Indian team a winner in the last over.

''The state government has always been making efforts to provide best facilities to its players. Many sports schemes have been started and a new sports policy will be implemented to give major boost to the sports in the State,'' Ms Choudhry said.

''There is a lot of talent in sports in Haryana and the government is taking all necessary steps to hone up this talent and give these players a platform to perform with distinction at both national and international level,'' the Minister said.
