Ganesh puja offered in Kashmir for the first time

Srinagar, Sept 25 (UNI) For the first time, a large number of devotees bid adieu to Lord Ganesh on 'Anant Chaturdashi' day, as he left homes and pandals for his final sojourn in river Jehlum.

Devotees mostly from Mahrashtra and Gujarat took out a procession from Hunuman temple holding the idols of the deuty this evening.

After marching to busy Hari Singh High Street, they returned to the temple on the bank of river Jehlum.

This is for the first time that a large number of devotees, chanting 'Ganpati bappa morya, pudchya varshi laukar ya', took part in the procession.

Muslims had lined up on both sides of the road to greet their Hindu brethern.
