Dubai, Sep 25 (UNI) Relatives of Indian crew members of cargo vessel MV Infinity Marine 1, which went missing on June 26 in the Indian ocean, are in constant touch with the Indian Consulate here.

The Somalia-bound vessel set sail from Dubai on June 10 with 21 crew members on board, including 14 Indians, five Pakistanis and one Bangladeshi.

Ashish Phanse, father of 21-year-old Chinmay has written to the Indian Consulate seeking information about his son.

''We are worried about his safety after we heard that the vessel is missing,'' the Gulf Today quoted him as saying.

Adding that it was shocking that no one knew what happened to the ship, he said even the owner Fida Hussain is in the dark about the fate of the ship.

The vessel was sailing to Mogadishu carrying general cargo, including food articles, machinery and light vehicles when it went missing on June 26, making a distress call to a French naval vessel before disappearing.

Meanwhile, International Maritime Organisation, investigating the disappearance, said it was difficult to come to a conclusion unless they know about the condition of the ship before it set sail from the UAE.
