Vadodara, Sep 25 (UNI) It was double delight for the parents and relatives of Pathan brothers -- Irfan and Yusuf -- when India snatched a dramatic 5-run victory over arch-rival Pakistan in the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup final at Johannesburg in South Africa.
''Our dream has come true. This is the happiest moment in our life,'' an emotionally-charged Mehmood Khan Pathan, father of the all-rounder duo, told UNI.
''My two sons, particularly Irfan who won the Man of the Match award for his three-wicket haul for just 16 runs, have done India and myself very proud by significantly contributing to India's victory in the final,'' Mehmood Khan said and thanked Indian team skipper Mahinder Singh Dhoni for reposing faith in his eldest son Yusuf Pathan to open the innings for India.
The 23-year-old Irfan and Yusuf are the first pair of Indian brothers to feature in cricket World Cup.
Mehmood Khan, a former Muezzin at the Jumma Masjid here, said, ''There could be no big moment in my life than the fact that both my sons were part of the Twenty20 World Cup winning team. Both Pathans, particularly Irfan, bowled very well,'' the septuagenarian father said.
Despite heavy rains since this evening, a large number of Pathan brothers' fans and cricket lovers as well as mediapersons thronged their Haji Park society residence in the city and congratulated the Pathan family and distributed sweets among themselves.
Making his debut in the World Cup final as an opener, Yusuf hit 15 off 8 balls with a six and a four and conceded five runs off his lone over he bowled. However, Irfan stole the show with a magnificent three-wicket haul for 16 runs in his four-over spell.
The three crucial wickets he chipped in were that of Shoaib Malik, player of the tournament Shahid Afridi and Yasir Arafat.
