DMK Legal Secy files complaint against Vedanti

Chennai, Sep 25 (UNI) DMK Legal Wing Secretary R S Bharathi today filed a complaint with the Chennai City Police Commissioner demanding criminal action against former BJP MP Mahant Ram Vilas Vedanti for issuing a 'fatwa' against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi for his remarks against Lord Ram.

Accompanied by other DMK functionaries, Mr Bharathi went to the Police Commissionerate here and filed the complaint with the City Police Commissioner Nanjil Kumaran.

In his complaint, Mr Bharathi said the 'fatwa' amounted to inciting terrorism, violence and a death threat to the Chief Minister and demanded action under Sec 153, 153 (a), 505 (1) (b) (c) and 506 (2) of the IPC.

Police registered a case under Sec 153 and 153 (a), 505 and 506 (c) of the IPC.

This is the second complaint to be filed against the Mahant after a member of the public petitioned the Commissioner yesterday seeking action against him.

In his complaint, Dhananchezhiyan said the 'fatwa' could harm communal harmony and disturb peace.
