Pathanamthitta, Sep 25 (UNI) Kerala Education Minister M A Baby today said steps will be taken to effect a comprehensive revamp of the curricular structure at the degree level in all the Universities in the State.
The Minister said the Government would try its level best to rejuvenate the ''Student Politics'' in the colleges as well as in secondary and higher secondary schools.
Mr Baby was inaugurating the Silver Jubilee Youth Festival of Mahatma Gandhi Univesity at the 'Sarasakavi Mooloor Nagar' here.
He regretted that the standard of education at the college-level was fast eroding due to lack of updating as was done at high school and plus-two levels.
He said the Higher Education Council headed by K N Panicker would address the anomaly. Literature and Arts would be prioritised in the college curriculam with stress on personality devolpment, he added.
He said the Government proposed the unified University Youth Festival. Talks would soon begin with Vice-Chancellors of all Universities in this regard.
Earlier, Transport Minister Mathew T Thomas flagged off a colourful cultural procession which begin from the new private bus-stand and culminated at the Sarasakavi Mooloor Nagar, the main venue of the festival. Mahatma Gandhi University union chairperson Dhanya Vijayan presided over the inugural function.
In the five-day fete, about 10,000 students from 293 colleges were competing in 60 items at five venues.
