Kathmandu, Sep 24 (UNI) The Communist Party of Nepal(UML) has recieved nearly 5,000 names from across the country for the candidacy of the Constituent Assembly elections.
The party would select 240 names from the total recommendations for the first-past-the-post electoral system. ''The party central committee will take the decision on the basis of recommendations made by the party's regional, district and zonal committees,'' Kantipuronline reported quoting a party source.
The party's Central Committee has decided to select those partymen who have made significant contributions to the movement for restoration of democracy in the Himalayan nation.
Interestingly, some Unified Marxist Leninist leaders, who have served the party as parliamentarians for long, are not in the recommendation list.
The source said the party is considering their selection through the proportional electoral system.
